I need to buy a new monitor, help me please!!!
I'm going to buy a new LCD monitor tomorrow. I've reached that wound up place inside which necessitates instant gratification. It's Christmas, people are offering to help with the cost, sales are on now, and the places I'm looking have either 30 day (Best Buy) or infinite (Costco, per their rep) returns on monitors.

So I ask you to look at the ones I'm choosing between, and offer any advice.

#1 Sony SDM-HS95P/S (Silver) 19" LCD Monitor - $599.99 - $130 rebates = $469.99
This is one pretty monitor (reviews here). Sleek, modern... seems like something Brian would have in his loft, (if he didn't use a Mac). The only possible con I can see? The surface is shiny, not matte, which the salesman said made the picture sharper. I'm not sure if I believe him or not. My concern was for the reflectivity of the surface, as I have windows behind me, and I already notice the reflections of the blinds somewhat on my shiny CRT screen. However, bliss_ said that you don't notice it as much unless the screen is black. Opinions?

#2 Samsung SyncMaster 204T (Silver) 20.1" LCD Monitor - $649.99 - $150 rebates = $499.99 total cost
The specs on this one look good, the reviews are great on ePinions, and it's not too plain. Not to pretty either, though, although prettiness is relative...

#3 Hewlett Packard f1905 (Gray) 19" LCD Monitor - $449.99 - $50 rebate = $399.99
Here's Best Buy's description of it. I just remember that it was nice looking...

So, any advice? Pretty please?!?

I have the #1 Sony, and I love it. I have never noticed a glare, but my windows are to the right of my computer.

Well, I'm still really, really mad at Sony just now, so I can't comment on that one. I don't plan on giving them any of my money for the foreseeable future.

The Samsung looks good. I've bought Samsung monitors (not this model) for both work and home, and been very happy with them over a long period of time.

My only concern with HP is that in my opinion, the quality of their non-printer products has dropped dramatically since the merger with Compaq. Though it's mostly been PCs that I've worked with, not monitors. But in general, my confidence in HP has been shaken, due to the last batches of PCs we purchased from them being extremely problematic (which is very sad, actually). But again, that's PCs, not monitors, so I don't know.

Not much help, am I? *grins weakly*

I have the Samsung and I love it but...I'd go with the Sony. I think the glass screen is fantastic and it adds a layer of protection.

We have a Fry's Electronics store near us in Phoenix. They had a AMW brand 19 inch LCD on sale for $225. I've never heard of the brand, but the price was just too good to pass up. It works fine and looks great to me.

After the whole rookit debacle, I doubt I'll be giving SONY any of my money for a long time.
