Advice sought
I'm having trouble with my phone - an old Treo 600. I'm likely going to have to not only get a new phone (I want a Treo again), but also may have to change providers, as T-Mobile doesn't carry any Treo's now.

So, my choices are Sprint or Verison. I'm leaning towards Sprint, but just because I think they are more widespread than Verison.

Also, in case I decide to just trash my 10 years of Palm background and get a different smartphone (unlikely) - any advice from any of you other smartphone users out there?

I appreciate any info.

I've never found anywhere I can't use Verizon and after the hurricanes my Verizon phone was the only one at work with a signal.

I concur with Quinn. My daughter and I have traveled away from civilization a couple of times. I had reception with my Verizon and she didn't with her T-Mobile.

My experience, in our little corner of the PNW, is that Verizon is the way to go. I have Cingular now (not by choice) and I hate it.

up in maine, verizon is where it's at. in fact, i think the only place i've been where i *don't* get a signal from verizon is at my house in upstate NY - i have to drive down the street to use my cell phone.

(i think sprint is finally building a tower near where i live in maine, but verizon definitely has better overal coverage up there. i don't know if this is at all helpful to you, though... but i thought i'd let you know.)

My sister/boss has a Treo 700 with the Windows Mobile OS and hates it so much, omg. For various reasons--one, if you're talking on it, the screen is still active, and your freakin' ear can start up apps. Nice, huh? Also, it doesn't always let her answer it, if some random applet has it working. Also, she (and the other five people I know that have the Windows Mobile version of it) have to pop the battery out or do a hard reset at least once a week--it seems like there are applets running in the background that you can't close because you don't know they're there, or something.

So I strongly recommend against the Windows version of the Treo. The Palm version is awesome, though. The only reason we picked the Windows Mobile version is that we need the complete interaction with Exchange--if you don't need that, the Palm is fine.

And I have Sprint and have been nothing but happy with them--my sisters have Verizon, and they experience way more dead spots where they lose connectivity than I do.

*grins* Apparently, I'm in the minority with the Sprint thing. Oh, well...
