What I've Said Those Close to Me Pick a Day, Any Day All About Me QaF Vault - great fanfic! In Days of Yore In Days of Yore On to the Future On to the Future
34.) Turning Tables, by Heather & Rose MacDowell - 336 pgs… - Happy's Obsession
or what I do between bouts of Real Life
34.) Turning Tables, by Heather & Rose MacDowell - 336 pgs (finished 05/24/08)
Review: Great novel about a quick learner working in the high-end restaurant business, learning about herself after a fall from business grace. Good summer read.
35.) P.S. I Love You, by Cecelia Ahern - 470 pgs (finished 05/27/08)
Review: Liked this book. As someone who thought they were dying, and tried to plan out a recovery for their spouse, it hit a chord with me.
36.) Blood Noir (Anita Blake, Book 16), by Laurell K Hamilton - 340 pgs (finished 06/08/08)
Review: Laurell must be having quite the randy sex life, because Anita sure is. No one is free of her call, and she gets another surprising animal to call. Definitely hot, and I now am jonesing for the next one, as yet unannounced/unplanned. *cries*

37.) Twilight, by Stephenie Meyer (reread) - 512 pgs (finished 06/17/08)
38.) New Moon, by Stephenie Meyer (reread) - 608 pgs (finished 06/23/08)
39.) Eclipse, by Stephenie Meyer (reread) - 640 pgs (finished 06/29/08)
Wanted to re-read the above 3, because there is a new one coming out August 2nd (Breaking Dawn). And I can't wait! Although I *do* kind of hate how she strung Jacob along, although he was a willing accomplice. I don't have a clue where she is going from here. The only excerpt I've read (I've got to find that Eclipse with the sneak peak!) just says she's engaged, driving an expensive (Edward's?) car, and everyone is staring at her. You can bet, since each book is, like, 600 pgs, there will be twists and turns. I bet she'll end up with Edward, but Jacob will come back, there will be some kind of trouble between Edward & Jacob, or Edward & Bella, and she'll go with Jacob for a while, but return to Edward.

And as convoluted as that sounds? It will probably be. But I can't wait to read it!

40.) Falling Out of Fashion, by Karen Yampolsky - 275 pgs (finished 06/29/08)
Review: Much like Turning Tables, or The Devil Wears Prada, except about a woman who founds an eponymous lifestyle magazine, and the twists, turns, back-stabbings, and risings-above that occur. Written by an insider. As they say, great summer read!

Wow, I only managed to make it through 30 books last year, but I've 1) been putting in a concerted effort, and I'm very goal-oriented, 2) been on the computer less, and 3) watched less TV. So, since I've got some kind of mental ADD (definitely not physical!), I gotta keep chugging along.

You're doing very well. If I wasn't such a pop culture/fandom junkie I'd join you. Seems these days most of my reading is off a RSS feed.

Yeah, I've figured out I'm pretty much serially monogamous with whatever I'm doing. It used to be fandoms, then it was a bunch of series (my TiVo is exploding!), and now? Reading, and books on tape (or Audible, really). Of course, with the BOT, I'm less up on current affairs (from progressive talk radio), but something's gotta give.

I just wish I could cycle back to the Jewelry making, or the knitting, even, because those hobbies produced tangible results. But who knows? Stranger things have happened!

I think book reading is losing out to the instant gratification of the interweb. I used to read 2-3 books a week and at least 2 newspapers daily. My Sunday ritual was to read the Sunday paper. Now I never buy the Sunday paper unless there are coupons I want. I check CNN & yahoo!news for news and I read maybe 10 books a year. I put everything I can on an RSS feed.

I've always been polygamist when it came to fandoms and I still am. I used to be very much into home DIY stuff and now I can't be bothered.

Still, it's nice to read books recs. I make notes and on those rare occasions when I do read, I pick from those.

I am aching to read Blood Noir, but I am trying to hold out a bit. I liked when I was behind and always had the next book handy, but now I have caught up and it sucks waiting for the next book to come out after reading one. Any other series that are similar that you would suggest? Seems you read a lot.
