It's Sno-mageddon!
In the Pacific Northwest, we usually have pretty mild weather, probably due to the buffering effect of so much water nearby. We don't get too much snow usually, just a day or two, maybe up to 5 max (once in 10 years).

The newscasters did a "crying wolf" thing yesterday, leading a lot of people to call in "snow", but there wasn't much. But last night and today? A significant amount. Probably not more than about 2 inches at my house, but it was well below freezing, and there was a lot of ice. And north of me, towards Seattle? Lots of ice, snow, crashes and spun out vehicles. The big guy called me this morning, asked how it was, and decided to close the offices.

So I have a snow day!!!

I feel a bit guilty, because K went into work at 6 this morning, threading his way between the spun out cars, trucks, and buses in his WRx (*love* that car!). He called in, and the recording said "no emergency, no cancellation", so in he went. And when he got there? Almost no one else had come in. And in Seattle, the weather has only gotten worse. So they finally canceled work (at 11 am), and now he has to try to get back home. Through all the wrecks of those who tried to come in later.

And when I look out the window here, in the South Sound? It's... well it *was* sunny. I just went to look, and it's socking in again, and snowing.

I hope he makes it home OK...

ohhhhhhh a WRX! I have one too, and absolutely adore it. I don't know what I would have done without it the winters I was at school. It got me safely home during more than one snow storm.

Yeah, that car can go anywhere, super fast with the turbo, and turn on a dime. I've had to swerve to avoid things that would have caused my Accord to spin out, and the WRx just grabbed the road and held on.

Amazing car!

It's crazy! I have no intention of leaving my cozy little home. I have the curtains open in the office, and a beautiful view of a neighborhood that usually leaves something to be desired, and it's pretty and snowing, and I can write my reports from here, dammit. *g*

I hope your Mister has a safe and quick drive home!

K made it home safe, and we're snug as bugs now, looking out at the snow. The kitties don't know what to make of it!

Stay safe, with all the sliding around going on out there, it's time to hunker down and stay warm!

Hope that the man made it home in one piece. Tell him not to wreck my car! *grin*

Hey, Sissy!

It's crazy here, starting to storm, K insisted on taking the movies back to Blockbuster... here's hoping the WRx lives up to it's reputation!

My Mom is up there staying with my sister in Redmond. She was excited about having real weather for Christmas. Being from Bakersfield you get nothing but fog or gloom. Stay safe watch out for the crazies on the road.

Staying in, thanks!

And I'm not too worried, as long as the power holds out. We are in a neighborhood with underground lines, but the feeders are above ground. And an ice store would f*ck things up... especially for the fish.

But the cats would be fine, and we have a fireplace, so I'm just hoping we weather it OK.

But the roof is old, needing replacing, and sustained winds or 30-45 mph (gusts to 75+)? I don't know...
