I prefer keepvid.com to anything else because it works more often than anything else. Well, 1-Click YouTube Video Downloader for Firefox Browser works very, very well too. With keepvid.com though, I have options. I can download a large HD file or a smaller file so that it won't take up much space on my computer.

when i upgraded to RealPlayer SP, it has an option for "RealPlayer Downloader"; it allows you to download videos from various sites. ie: on youtube, i place the cursor on the top right-hand side of the video and the downloader option pops up.

I use Realplayer also and it works fine. It's just the free version, though, and I can d/l vids from YT with it.

On Firefox I use download helper, that dl in .flv or "Easy youtube video downloader", that puts a button under the player and lets you decide if dl it as mp4, mp3 etc...
